Building Safe Relationships with Jessica Baum

What does it take to feel safe in your relationships? In this episode of Let’s Talk Love, Robin sits down with licensed psychotherapist and author, Jessica Baum, to explore the core themes from her new book Safe. Together they look at how implicit memory, early attachment wounds, and our nervous system shape the way we show up in our relationships. Drawing from her personal healing and clinical work, Jessica explains how sensations in the body often hold the memories we can’t consciously recall, and how this awareness can begin to shift long-held patterns in relationships.

Robin and Jessica talk about protectors—the behaviors we lean on when we don’t feel safe—as well as anchors, the supportive relationships that help us regulate, repair, and reconnect with our inner world. They explore inner child work, trauma bonding, and the familiar pull toward partners who mirror our earliest experiences. Through real stories and grounded examples, this conversation invites a deeper understanding of how the body remembers, how healing happens in connection, and how compassionate awareness can support attachment healing, nervous system regulation, and more secure love.
